The take

GoHub Ventures is the rare venture fund that grew out of a water utility. It was spun up in 2019 by Global Omnium, the Valencia group that has run water systems for more than 130 years, and that lineage is the whole pitch: a startup GoHub backs can pilot its technology inside one of the world's larger water operators instead of cold-emailing utilities for a trial. GoHub calls this smart money, capital that arrives bundled with a real-world testbed.

GoHub Ventures has kept its water bets tight and hands-on. Across the deals I track in my Leviathan database it has backed three water companies, leading most of them at the seed stage: Agrow Analytics in irrigation analytics, Divirod in water-level sensing, and Aganova in pipe-leak detection. That is a digital-water thesis, software and sensors that make existing infrastructure smarter, rather than heavy concrete-and-steel plays.

GoHub Ventures has since grown well beyond water. It now runs two funds worth roughly $90M, holds more than 35 companies in its overall portfolio, and describes itself today as an early-stage backer of B2B software, applied AI, dual-use technology (tech with both civilian and defense uses), and digital health. So a newcomer should read GoHub as a generalist deep-tech fund with deep water roots, not a pure-play water investor that backs nothing but water. Its clearest water signal now is The Global Water Challenge, the program through which it has offered startups capital plus access to Global Omnium's own operations.
